Which science fiction books / movies best describe the future of work?

Personally, I like Walkaway and Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, both by Cory Doctorow, and both describe a world in which people don't really have jobs anymore.

    Star Trek!

    It's a future in which people don't work anymore because they have to, but because they want to - to improve themselves and all of humanity.

    Do you think Altered Carbon may also reflect the future? Immortal, incredibly wealthy business people on the one hand, and everybody else on the other?

    I hope not!

    In general, I think dystopian cyberpunk fiction is too pessimistic, but I'm an optimist.

    The documentary American Factory on Netflix was an eye opener!
