Hi everyone , I'm Biki sarmah , a mechanical engineer from oxylab . As we know Rising healthcare costs put economic pressure on families and businesses in addition to constraining access to healthcare to those that can afford the increased cost.In developing countries , the high price of medical imaging systems such as MRI ,CT and PET imaging limits access to medical imaging because of both price and physical access since the sparse geographical distribution of medical imaging systems also imposes a travel barrier for those that would benefit from them.Almost 122 Indians per 10,000 die due to poor quality of care and less access to medical imaging facility each year but we can reduce those death.we try to designed a new generation of portable medical device .which may be capable of producing accurate 3-D image with less harmful effect. The device is need to be cost effective and user friendly with less technical complication so a non-specialists like nurse ,junior doctor ,general practitioners and our trained person diagnose with the same accuracy as a radiologist as a specialist . looking forward to contributing to this great global health initiative.

@biki - Welcome Biki! We're excited to have you join our online community of experts.
Congratulations on designing portable medical device. This would tremendously improve access to healthcare.

Just a quick question, is this device already in use? if yes; it would be nice to hear some success stories and any challenges faced in implementing it here.

At present we are discussing the key issues of frontline health systems:
How A.I. can be used to increase preventative care in low- and middle-income countries?
Major constraints in regard to frontline health systems in LMICs and how technology can be leveraged to overcome these constraints
We would love to hear your thoughts on these latest discussion topics.

In case you have come across any interesting reports, articles or documentaries etc. that throws light on how healthcare works in low and middle-income countries or how technology is used to overcome healthcare barriers, please share it with us here.
    Many thanks.

Hi All, I am David Patterson Silver Wolf...a professor at Washington University in St Louis. My work focuses on incorporating performance-based practices to behavioral health and addiction services, specifically in underserved communities. While access to healthcare is vital...what's equally important are the results (i.e. health & wellness performance outcomes) of those services. We have developed and are implementing performance-based tech tools in high-need and historically underserved systems of care. Looking forward to learning more about all of you and this important effort.

Greetings to everyone. I am a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford. Relevant to this endeavor, I was a first responder to the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, and have extensive EMS (out-of-hospital care) experience as both a provider and an administrator. I am deeply involved in wilderness medicine, disaster response, and technology in medicine. One of my current projects is with the (U.S.) National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health to prepare communities and individuals to anticipate, encounter, respond to, and recover from climate change-related disaster. I can help the group understand prehospital care and its role in reaching people at the front line of a medical situation. Thank you.

@Shashi We in the DeepDrug team, apart from running a "Skunkworks" for finding (and repurposing) therapeutics for COVID 19 (10 drugs are in-vitro and in-vivo and ready for IND exemption for human trials), are also working on digital health in Africa and Asia. In particular, we are interested in cheap drug distribution (drones) and diagnostics (Second Harmonic Generation Microscopy + AI). If you are interested, we can have a call.
  • supratik12supratik12 Posts: 9 ✭✭
@Shashi We have also come up with (repurposed) nutraceuticals for Covid-19. Cheap nutraceuticals can have a huge impact in low resource environments

    Hello Shashi & Team,
I'm excited to be part of this group!
I head Product Development (Mobile Apps/platform development, AI/ML and UI/UX) at Saathealth, based in India. We have launched a few mobile interventions in the last 2.5 years including our App Saathealth for Hindi-speaking LMIG families in Indian cities and semi-urban towns with over 100k users. We've published our impact report on our site, and also our research in using UX to improve health outcomes with nudges and social pats/incentives is going to be published in Frontiers in Science pretty soon this year.

I'd like to contribute in the areas of :
    - using mobile Apps and human centered design to provide LMIG users with the right content based on demographics, interests
    - preliminary and deeper ideation for the use of personalised content dissemination to improve knowledge levels in LMIG Users
    - user of algorithms to classify users into cohorts as well as the use of ML for recommending the right content that nudges users towards better health-seeking behaviours
    - linking content & incentives with supply-side offers to acceelerate usage & sustained engagement over a longer period of time
    - enabling field workers / health workers / field staff to onboard people (using a partner App) -> hence implementing this conceptually, but also tracking the transactional level data for better analytics about their performance.

Let me know how and where I can engage. Happy to be on board!

@srinisatyan - Welcome Shrini! We're excited to have you join our online community of experts.
Thank you for the introduction. You experience very well aligns with this project.

As per the latest version of the competition the teams would have to design a solution that aggregates and harmonizes health data to address the primary care needs of a country. And those same teams are also asked to leverage data science techniques to enable health leadership to secondarily derive value from the harmonized data.

We have several active discussions in the prize design sections, where I feel you could contribute. Specially the use case of AI / ML in healthcare, Healthcare Data Integration and Integration process of Digital health products. We would love your thoughts on these discussions and more.

We are also locking the list of potential partners for this competition - If you have any recommendations, please share them in the next few days. Thanks.
