Hello. I am Luis Benveniste, the Human Development Regional Director for Latin American and the Caribbean at the World Bank. Greetings! I am Eric Swanson, Director of Research at Open Data Watch. We are a small NGO working at the intersection of official statistics and open data. We work to improve the foundation for reliable, open data across the globe by encouraging collaboration between official and non-official information producers, technical innovation, and financial support for the work of national statistical systems. Through our work we seek to move countries farther along the data value chain (https://opendatawatch.com/publications/the-data-value-chain-moving-from-production-to-impact/) so that the data they produce can be used to make an impact on policies and, ultimately on people's lives.
Our Open Data Inventory (http://odin.opendatawatch.com/) monitors the coverage and openness of 21 categories of official statistics in 180 countries. We have a particular focus on gender statistics and the Sustainable Development Goals. We have published an assessment of gaps in gender statistics in 15 Sub-Saharan countries and have a similar assessment of 5 Latin American and Caribbean countries underway. Hi everyone, my name is Shirin Heidari nd I am wearing several hats. I joined mainly in my capacity as the founding president of GENDRO, a not-for-profit with the mission to promote the integration of sex and gender dimensions in research. Our current strategic priority is health research. I am also senior technical consultant on gender and health to WHO's Gender, Equity and Rights team; I am a senior researcher in global health (SRHR) at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and last but not least, I am the founding chair of the Gender Policy Committee of the European Association of Science Editors, and the lead author of 'Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines. If anyone is interested, I've given a TEDx on the topic.

I'm Lucy Erickson, and I am the Director of Science Programs at the Society for Women's Health Research, a 30-year-old nonprofit focused on promoting research on sex differences in disease and improving women's health through science, policy, and education.
My path so far has given me interest and expertise in broad set of areas relevant to the gender data gap, through my experiences in women's health, psychology and cognitive development, and computing and technology.
Prior to my current role, I was an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation's Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate, and I hold a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University.
I'm excited to be a part of this effort, and especially to connect with all the incredible people working on these important issues.
Hi, My name is Cristina Fabre. I am working at the European Institute for Gender Equality as Gender-based Violence Officer. My main project is on advancing the data collection on different forms of violence against women.
To enhance the data collection I work closely with other EU and international agencies to draw recommendations and to improve indicators.
The gender data gap is evident when we look at the crime statistics. There is a need for gender sensitive crime statistics to better inform policies and mesures for crime prevention and to better protect the victims.

I'm Suzanne Wertheim, a former professor of linguistic anthropology. I've been working on language, gender, and culture for more than two decades. Back in grad school, I ran what was then the world's biggest language and gender conference and non-profit, the Berkeley Women and Language Group, and helped transition it to the International Gender and Language Association. And I've maintained a gender lens on my various research specialties over the years (formerly bilingualism, language endangerment, and contact-induced grammatical change).
I'm now CEO of Worthwhile Research & Consulting. We apply social science to real-world problems, ranging from bringing cultural knowledge to natural language processing to developing and facilitating anti-bias trainings. I do a lot of work with the tech community, and research gender bias in tech (and other workplaces) and ways to identify and interrupt that bias. I'm particularly concerned with markedness and erasure of women, and the ways that gender bias slows down career velocity and/or drives female-presenting people out of workplaces and entire fields.

I'm Sarah Barker, I lead the Innovation Lab at Our Community. We are creating tools and resources to helping not-for-profits build data capability in Australia. We also work on various data science projects unlocking insights in grants data in SmartyGrants (our online grants management tool used by 360 funders across Australia and New Zealand) and GiveNow (our online donations platform).
We have conducted a number of gender analyses including grant submission and approval rates, the application of a gender lens to social sector initiatives, and the differences in donor behaviour between men and women.

I am Stacey Ong a management consultant, women of colour and now entrepreneur as I have started a business - One Red Step - that focuses on equality and service delivery. I have led projects such as analysis of data for a government department to understand family violence prevalence, incidence, response and follow up and development of a gender impact analysis framework and quantitative tool. In the gender impact analysis project, the lack of gendered data including gender non binary was challenging - so I think this is a very important project. I am also Deputy Chair of the domestic violence peak body in Victoria where we are spending a lot of time discussing intersectionality, defining it and understanding how we can embed it in our work. And lastly, I was PricewaterhouseCoopers inaugural staff lead for its cultural diversity and inclusion network and a member of the Centre for Asian Australian Leadership. We have yet to really deeply understand intersectionality in the workplace and how we can support employees to access opportunities and reach there potential.

I am the Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies, and a Professor of History at University of Hyderabad, India. I was the Chair of the Women’s World Congress in 2014, organized for the first time in India, where many scholars working on gender issues from across the world came to one platform. My work is in the Inter disciplinary area of History and Women’s Studies. I have been recently invited by the National Commission for women, a statutory body of the Governemnt of India, to be its Resource person for Gender sensitization and Gender development Programmes in India. I look forward to the insights from this platform which would be of assitance in my work. Some of the areas that are of great concern to me are Violence against women, trafficking of women and the creation of an equal and equitable society where gender justice is realised. Hi I am Kalpana Viswanath and am the founder of Safetipin , which is a set of technology tools to collect data about safety and inclusion in cities. I am a sociologist and have been part of many research studies and data collection.
Safetipin has worked with more than 20 city governments in India and around the world. We collect both crowd sourced data as well large scale image analysis which we analyse both manually as well as through machine learning. Using ML has taught us many things about data and bias. We have over 750000 safety audit points from around the world and work with many partners, government, academia and NGO's. I really believe this is a very key issue as we move more and more into AI. I would be glad to be part of this discussion group as data collection is not neutral and only when we recognise this will we be able to change it.

My name is Lilia Giugni, and I am a researcher at the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation, University of Cambridge. My research and advocacy interests include gender-based violence (with a specific focus on online abuse), intersectional feminism, gender inequalities in various organisational settings, and the gendered side of work, technology and innovation. My work involves overseeing intervention at the community level. We try to prevent violence through Primary, Secondary and Tertiary level. Gender plays an important role in such kind of interventions.
